647 Tablighi Jamaat cases in 14 states in last 2 days: Health Ministry

Union health ministry has said that India has registered at least 647 positive novel coronavirus cases which are linked to Tablighi Jamaat congregation, which was held in Markaz at the Nizammudin area of Delhi in March.
Addressing the daily presser on Covid-19, health ministry official Lav Aggarwal said that cases linked to Tablighi Jamaat have been traced in 14 states and UTs - Andaman and Nicobar, Assam, Delhi, Himachal, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttrakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
As per the official ministry data of the last 24 hours (Thursday evening to Friday evening), Indian registered 336 new cases of Covid-19 taking the national tally to 2301 with 56 deaths. India Today tally based on information released by states and UTs says the total number of cases till Friday afternoon in India was 2,579 with 71 deaths.
Lav Aggarwal said that over 30 lakh people in India have downloaded the Aarogya Setu app which is designed to inform its users regarding risks, best practices and relevant advisories pertaining to the containment of Covid-19.
Meanwhile, the MHA official said that the home ministry has told states to take strict action against those attacking medical professionals as their safety and security during this crisis was crucial.
The health official also said that Health minister Harsh Vardhan has appealed to patients & their families not to create any obstacle in the path of doctors while they discharge their duties. He also expressed concerns over misbehavior with doctors & medical staff
ICMR's Dr Manoj Muhekar told media that total of 182 labs in India have been given permission to test for novel coronavirus. On Thursday, 8,000 tests were conducted for Covid-19, which is highest-ever in India.
